HEVC/H.265 continues to gain more and more popularity. This is due to the low video compression bitrates it can achieve compared to the old MPEG-2 and AVC/H.264 video formats. The transition from HD to 4K is already in progress and HEVC seems to be the most suitable solution when it comes to streaming video content at such high resolution.
We are proud to announce the new releases of JPlayout and JIPEncoder with the HEVC streaming capability. JPlayout was one of the first playout solutions to support HEVC/H.265 input files and streams. And now our playout solution has built-in HEVC/H.265 encoding and HEVC streaming. This completes the HEVC processing chain with full software transcoding and graphic overlay.
The built-in HEVC encoder is a software module which relies on the CPU and the memory of the system. As you know the HEVC software encoding requires more powerful system. However, the built-in HEVC encoder has the ability to be adjusted for the specific system and to take as much of the system resources as required, leaving resources for the rest of the processes. This enables the HEVC/H.265 encoder to be used in wide variety of hardware platforms.
JIPEncoder – our encoding & streaming solution, has also been extended with HEVC/H.265 encoding capability. The solution now offers SDI, HD-SDI, HDMI, Composite, Component, UDP, RTP, RTMP, RTSP, HLS and MPEG-DASH source real-time transcoding into HEVC/H.265. The encoded stream is then multiplexed into MPEG Transport Stream and streamed via UDP or RTP. The ability to add graphics overlay makes JIPEncoder an unique solution for real-time channel branding.
JCapture is our ingest solution. It now supports natively HEVC/H.265 encoding capability. The solution supports HEVC/H.265 ingest into MPEG Transport Stream and MP4 format captured from a SDI, HD-SDI, HDMI, Component, Composite, UDP, RTP, RTMP, RTSP, HLS and MPEG-DASH source. JCapture proved to be simple to use, yet powerful solution for ingest into some of the most popular broadcast and consumer digital media formats.
