Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a key feature of all encoding and streaming solutions, which serve the commercial media delivery market. In fact, it is almost impossible to do a content monetization without some sort of DRM implementation or content encryption through the delivery workflow.

In HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) encryption the video files are usually encrypted using a secure AES-128 algorithm. The AES-128 is the only publicly available security algorithm that is used by the NSA for encrypting its top-secret classified information. AES-128 encryption algorithm encrypts the each HLS segment with the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) using a 128 bit key, Cipher Block Chaining (CBC) and PKCS7 padding. HLS streaming and HLS Encryption can be used for both the cases of live streaming and for Video on Demand streaming (VOD).

We’re happy to announce that the AES-128 encryption algorithm for HLS streaming and encoding has been implemented in JPlayout, JIPEncoder and JCapture solutions. The HLS stream encryption can be enabled or switched off for certain cases, where the stream needs to be delivered completely decrypted. If the AES-128 encryption is applied, each segment is encrypted with randomly generated 128 bit key, protecting the stream from unauthorized usage.

The newly implemented AES-128 encryption is fully compliant with the HLS specification, which allows the encrypted HLS streams to be processed by any HLS compliant workflow.

We are happy to announce that our JIPEncoder and JPlayout now provide direct NDI output. The NDI technology ensures signal transmission of high video and audio quality over IP without the need of additional SDI cabling. Both solutions offer NDI output as an option.

JPlayout now supports direct NDI output , along with the standard SDI and IP outputs.

JIPEncoder now can convert in real-time any input source, such as SDI, HDMI, Composite, Component, IP, NDI, UDP, RTP, RTSP, RTMP, HLS or MPEG-DASH into NDI.

JPlayout now supports output to NDI, along with the standard SDI and IP outputs. With the latest upgrade it is possible to directly output NDI signal – there is no need for any converter or SDI cabling. The NDI output is available as an option and requires active Streaming option or Multi-Layer Streaming option.

Both JIPEncoder and JPlayout can produce multi-layer and multi-format output streams from a single source. Each output layer can be converted with its own resolution and frame rate and output via different IP or NDI outputs simultaneously.

With this new feature our solutions now provide complete NDI conversion and transmission cycle. Along with the conversion from NDI streams to standard IP streams, now it is possible to convert the standard IP streams into NDI stream.

• Playout output directly to NDI
• Mixed Playout output of NDI, IP and SDI
• Multi-layer and multi-format streaming from IP and NDI to IP and NDI
• SDI, HDMI, Composite, Component, IP, NDI, UDP, RTP, RTSP, RTMP, HLS and MPEG-DASH conversion to NDI
• NDI conversion to IP, UDP, RTP, HLS and MPEG-DASH
• NDI transmission of high video and audio quality over IP without the need of additional SDI cabling

Following the successful deployment of JMultiViewer PRO in its Sao Paolo offices last year, TV Globo decided to install Jongate’s multiview monitoring solution in their offices in Rio de Janeiro. The new project is going to support the Globo Play services and will be executed in two phases. Phase one had already been accomplished in January 2017. The first phase of deploying JMultiViewer solutions had enabled Globo for real-time preview and monitoring of up to 240 channels in HD resolution. And after completing the second phase Globo Play will have the capacity to monitor more than 400 HD channels.

JMultiViewer – Multiview Monitoring with Automatic Audio, Video and Signal Errors Detection, Error Loging and E-mail Notification

As the largest TV broadcaster in Brasil and the second largest in the world Globo Network is always focused on delivering best quality of experience to its customers.  With its own ten television stations and 68 affiliated stations, TV Globo’s commitment to excellence is an everyday challenge. Globo Play is Globo’s digital video platform for both video-on-demand and live programming available on smartphones, tablets and PCs. For its operations Globo Play needed powerful and intelligent multiview monitoring solution for video and audio preview and monitoring of both live feed and file based content.

Sterling do Brasil – JONGATE’S dedicated partner for Latin America, had ensured the successful implementation of the project. “We take this opportunity to thank our partner for Latin America Mr. Nestor Almeida and the entire team of Sterling do Brasil for their commitment and support.” – said Mr. Tsviatko Jongov, Founder and CEO of JONGATE Broadcasting Solutions.

“We are thrilled that TV Globo had chosen our JMultiviewer PRO for their Globo Play offices.  It’s truly satisfying to know that our solutions take part in delivering first-class TV entertainment to TV Globo’s viewers.” – shared Mr. Jongov. “Along with the standard mosaic video and audio preview, our multuviewer monitoring option supports automatic instant detection of black frames, freeze frames, noise, audio silence and signal loss. The latest release of JMultiViewer offers another great feature – ingest of the monitored input streams prior decoding. The user can now capture the UDP and RTP input streams and store them locally. This way the user can save the monitored streams in file/files in order to further examine them for issues afterwards.

Apart from the integrated audio, video and signal quality multiview monitoring functionality, our JMultiViewer now offers ingest of the monitored input IP streams without transcoding. The user can take advantage of captured streams to perform further quality control checks as well as to use them as proof of the detected errors. Another useful application of the new ingest feature is storing the captured streams for archival purposes. The captured streams can also be used for manual or automated preview and analysis with JMediaQC. Our automated system for quality control, verification and validation of media files can provide further insights on the captured streams.

JMultiViewer provides ingest of the monitored input streams for later review, decoding & preview on screen and monitoring & logging of video, audio and network errors.

As you know JMultiViewer is our intelligent solution for mosaic preview and monitoring of live network and file-based inputs. The solution also offers instant error detection and reporting. JMultiViewer performs real-time monitoring for black frames and freeze frames, audio noise and audio silence, signal loss and restore events. Upon detecting error in the monitored streams the solution creates a comprehensive error log and, if activated, sends an automatic e-mail notification with predefined message and destination. And here comes the new complementing ingest feature. It will allow the user to further inspect and analyze the detected issues in the monitored input streams.

The ingesting process can capture the continuous input stream “as is”. It also gives the user the ability to choose which of the monitored streams to be captured. The user can also configure the ingest and choose how and where the captured streams to be stored. The new feature allows the user to split the input streams into files with specific file size or files with specific duration. In addition the user can manually switch on and off  the ingest of the monitored streams on-the-fly.

Instant detection and identification of media content issues have always been essential for broadcast industry. With the latest release of JMultiViewer and the integration with the JMediaQC this task is becoming less stressful and time-consuming.
